Biography

A professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Dr. Vijay Prakash Singh is a renowned name in Bihar's medical scenario. A topper of I.Sc. examination conducted by the Ranchi University in 1971, he was awarded as the best graduate in the year 1978 along with an MBBS degree from the Patna Medical College and University. He did his MD from Chandigarh in the year 1983. He was awarded a silver medal by the college administration for being a topper in his subject.

More than 30 years’ experience in as Consultant Gastroenterologist. Has the distinction of establishing Gastroenterology Department of IGIMS, and Patna Medical College Patna. Was Professor & Head Department of Medicine, Patna Medical College from 2004 to 2008 after which he shifted to the newly created Department of Gastroenterology as Professor & Head of Department Apart from his clinical practice he passionate teacher and has organized participated in many conferences and social activities.

Is Founder Director of BIG Hospital, Patna, which was established in 2009 with a vision of providing comprehensive Gastro care at affordable cost. Under his leadership, BIG Hospital has expanded and grown in stature. Many more super-specialties have been added but BIG Hospital, Patna retains its original vision and also provides a platform and an enabling environment for talented Bihari doctors trained in the best institutes of the country to return and serve the people of the state. He has authored as well as guided many research publications.Dr. Vijay Prakash has been awarded ‘Padmshree” by President of India in 2003.

Dr. Vijay Prakash currently works as Director and Consultant Gastroenterologist at BIG Apollo Spectra Hospital, Patna.
